It’s hard to believe, but there are Christians who rarely talk to God, and when they do, they struggle to believe that their prayers are even heard or answered. They listen to all the testimonies of answered prayers for others, but feel that God is selective when it comes to answering “their” prayers. But what every Christian needs to understand is the importance of daily communication with God and that there is power in prayer. Pastor CD Brooks once said, “If you’re not sure about the power of prayer, it’s because you don’t pray.”
Prayer has divided the sea.
Prayer brought water out of solid rock.
Prayer cooled off Nebuchadnezzar’s fiery furnace.
Prayer locked the lions’ mouths so they couldn’t destroy Daniel.”
It’s important to know that God didn’t just answer prayers in Bible times. Prayers have been answered and miracles performed all throughout history, including today. We serve a miracle-making God who has all power at His disposal to answer prayers according to His will.
He is the same God yesterday, today, and tomorrow! And He loves to hear from His children. He wants us to come to Him to solve our problems and give us direction and advice. The Bible says in 1 John 5:14-15, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” When you fully surrender your life to Christ, you know the importance of praying in God’s will–not your own.
The Bible says in Proverbs 19:21, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” When you allow the Holy Spirit to dwell within you, there is a realization that God’s plan is so much bigger and better than what you could possibly imagine, and there is something very exciting about seeing an invisible God do “visible” things in your life.
So keep the prayer line open, for it is your intimate connection with God that empowers you to persevere, stay steady on course, and live a righteous life, filled with real joy, peace, and contentment.
